His work featured thick outlines, bright colours, and simplified figures like the radiant baby and barking dog. He gained fame through chalk drawings in subway stations and large murals, making art accessible outside traditional galleries.

Pop Shop and legacy

In 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop in New York City to sell affordable merchandise featuring his imagery, later expanding to Tokyo. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1990 at age 31, leaving a lasting influence on street art and LGBTQ+ culture.
