Diogo Jota was a Portuguese professional footballer who played for Liverpool and Portugal. He died in a car accident in July 2025 at age 28.

Early life and career

Diogo Jota was born in Massarelos, Porto, in 1996. He began his career in Portugal before moving to English football, playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers and later Liverpool.

Liverpool and international career

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and became a key attacking player, scoring 65 goals in 182 appearances. He won the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup with the club. Internationally, he represented Portugal and won the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.

Death

Jota died in a road traffic accident in Spain on 3 July 2025, aged 28. His brother, André Silva, also died in the same accident.
