Bruno Marchand is a Québécois politician and community leader who became mayor of Quebec City in 2021. He founded and leads the municipal party Québec forte et fière.

Background and community career

Marchand was born in Quebec City in 1972 and grew up in Limoilou. He studied philosophy at Université Laval and social work at Cégep de Sainte-Foy. Before politics, he led Centraide Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches et Bas-Saint-Laurent from 2014 to 2021 and worked at the Association québécoise de prévention du suicide.

Mayor of Quebec City

Marchand was elected the 38th mayor of Quebec City in November 2021, succeeding Régis Labeaume. He was re-elected in 2025, with his party Québec forte et fière winning a strong majority on city council. He is considered among Quebec’s most influential public figures.
