Benjamin Guinness was the third son of Arthur Guinness II and grandson of the brewery's founder. Born in Dublin in 1798, he took full control of the family business after his father's death in 1855. Under his leadership, Guinness expanded rapidly, with its stout exported across the British Empire by the 1860s.

Guinness's business acumen turned a local brewery into an international powerhouse, setting the stage for the brand's lasting global recognition.
