Anderson Cooper is an American television journalist and CNN anchor. He is known for his field reporting on major news events and his role on 60 Minutes.

Early life and education

Cooper was born in New York City in 1967 to Gloria Vanderbilt and Wyatt Cooper. He graduated from Yale University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.

Broadcast journalism career

After early work at Channel One and ABC News, Cooper joined CNN in 2001. He became anchor of Anderson Cooper 360° in 2003 and has reported from nearly 80 countries. His coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 Haiti earthquake raised his public profile.

Other media work

Cooper is also a correspondent for CBS News’ 60 Minutes and hosted the daytime talk show Anderson Live from 2011 to 2013. He has written several books, including memoirs and a family history, and has guest-hosted Jeopardy!
